Outdoor Wood-Fired Sauna, Hot Tub, and Delphy Pool Disclaimer and Waiver
Thank you for choosing to use our outdoor wood-fired sauna, hot tub, and Delphy Pool for cold exposure. Please read this disclaimer carefully before participating. By signing this document, you acknowledge and agree to the following terms and conditions.
NOTE: The site is a natural quarry environment and may be wet and slippery, with uneven surfaces, obstructions and protrusions, and that I enter and participate at my own risk.
General Guidelines for Use
- Cooling Breaks & Nordic Cycle:
The Nordic cycle involves alternating between hot and cold exposure, such as the sauna, hot tub, and cold water immersion. After each 15-minute exposure to the sauna or hot tub, you must take a cooling break, typically by entering the Delphy Pool. Ensure your body cools down adequately before engaging in another round. This cycle promotes circulation, relaxation, and recovery, but failure to cool down properly can lead to overheating and dehydration. - Health and Safety:
- It is recommended that individuals with heart conditions, high or low blood pressure, respiratory conditions, diabetes, or any other pre-existing medical conditions consult their doctor before using the sauna, hot tub, or Delphy Pool.
- Pregnant women, elderly individuals, and those with compromised health should also seek medical advice before participating.
- If you feel unwell at any time, exit the sauna, hot tub, or pool immediately and rest in a cool area.
- No Alcohol or Drugs:
- Consumption of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited before or during the use of the sauna, hot tub, or Delphy Pool. These substances can impair judgment and increase the risk of accidents or health issues.
- We also advise abstaining from alcohol for at least 24 hours after using the sauna or hot tub to allow your body to recover.
- Hydration:
Stay well-hydrated before, during, and after your session. Drinking plenty of water helps prevent dehydration, especially during exposure to heat. - Duration and Session Limits:
- If you have booked a one-hour spa session (which includes access to the sauna, hot tub, and pool), cool down every 15 minutes by cycling between the sauna, cold dip, and hot tub. Exit the spa on time so the next group can start their session.
- If you have booked the sauna or hot tub separately, do not exceed the 30-minute total allocated for your time.
- Children’s Use:
- Children under the age of 13 are not permitted to use the hot tub or sauna but are allowed to enter Delphy Pool under adult supervision.
- Children must be supervised at all times, and those aged 13-16 should limit exposure to high heat to avoid potential health risks.
- Facility Conditions and Hot Sauna Rocks:
- The wood-fired sauna and hot tub may contain natural materials, such as wood, which can be hot to the touch. Handle all surfaces with care.
- Do not touch or move the hot sauna rocks, as they can reach extremely high temperatures and may cause burns. Only authorized personnel should manage the heat levels or add water to the rocks.
- Delphy Pool: Cold Exposure:
- The Delphy Pool is a natural body of water used for cold exposure as part of the Nordic cycle. You enter the pool at your own risk.
- The pool is very deep, so do not step off the yellow safety platform unless you feel well and are comfortable in deep water.
- Cold exposure can cause rapid body changes, including cold shock, loss of muscle control, and difficulty breathing. Enter slowly and exit immediately if you feel unwell or overly cold.
- Always ensure that someone is nearby when entering the pool, especially if swimming in deep water.

Bad Weather and Sea Conditions
If sea conditions are not suitable or safe, training will continue at Delphy Pool, where we can work on freediving, safety and spearfishing techniques.
Our aim is to create safe, competent divers, so there is always more to learn and valuable use can still be made of the training day.
In some cases, it may be possible to rebook sea-based training on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. This is strictly at the discretion of Delphy Pool and subject to availability.
